Tbilisi / London
Teona Burkiashvili (Teo Burki) is a Georgian-born artist based between London and Tbilisi. Her work explores the space between contemporary painting and moving image, merging digital processes with manual mark-making.
With a background in fine arts from the Tbilisi Academy of Arts, LUCA School of Arts (Brussels), and a Master’s from Central Saint Martins (London), Teo’s hybrid visual language blends abstraction with figurative elements, challenging the boundaries between real and virtual.
She has exhibited internationally, including at Tate Modern’s Tate Exchange, APT Gallery’s Becomings, and Tbilisi Art Fair, and is a member of the UK-based collective Slash Arts. Her work was also featured in Where’s the Frame as part of the “Lick the Future” spotlight on emerging avant-garde artists.
She works as a curator on international, regional (Caucasus), and local levels, in areas such as Poti and Gori, where she fosters cultural dialogue and resilience. Her projects - including Bring Me the Horizon, Superposition, and Buffer - explore evolving narratives of identity, place, and landscape.
